Santa Beard Countdown (Free Printable for Christmas!)
Looking for a fun and easy way to countdown to Christmas? Grab this free Santa Beard Countdown and some simple craft supplies.
Welcome to Day 1 of 12 Days of Free Christmas Printable Activities.
These free Christmas printables are my thank you gift to my email subscribers. Your support of this small printables business means so much to me.
So we’re kicking off Day 1 with a couple of Santa Beard Countdown printables.
One of my favorite parts of Christmas was getting out my mom’s ornament Advent calendar.
Each morning, we could go into the living room, open up a door on a worn cardboard container, and remove a small ornament. My parents had a special tabletop tree where we could hand the ornaments.
It was magical to see that worn Advent container have more and more empty spaces as the days passed – bringing us closer to Santa.
Eager to share a similar tradition with my own children (and you!), this Santa Beard Countdown is a simple and memorable holiday tradition.

The versions are:
- Santa with countdown dots included on his beard AND his hat

Christmas Advent Calendars
Before we get to the details of how to use the Santa beard countdown printables, let’s talk about why Christmas Advent calendars are a good thing.
Time is abstract to toddlers and preschool-age children.
My four-year-old has been asking since Halloween, “Is Christmas is tomorrow?”
Using an Advent calendar like this printable helps children see in a tangible way how many days remain.

You can countdown on either printable Santa beard countdown in two ways:
- start at 24 and count backward. This way your child will see how many days are remaining until Christmas.
- begin at the numeral 1 for December first and work your way to December 24.
Either way works!

How to Use the Santa Countdown Printable
This printable includes countdown circles on Santa’s hat, beard, and face. So you’ll need red and white supplies.
Cottonball Santa
Use can glue white cotton balls for Santa’s beard and part of his hat.
Pom pom Santa
Grab a pack of pom poms (make sure there is red and white!) and glue those down for Santa’s bread and hat.
Dot Stickers
If you’ve been around for a while, you know how much I love dot stickers for developing pencil grip.
Peel one of those stickers off each day and have your child cover the number.
You’ll want to make sure you have red dot stickers as well as a pack of white dot stickers.
This is the easy and least messy version of the Santa Beard Countdown.
Dot Markers
I like dot markers for working on hand-eye coordination.
Working in a small spot is a real challenge for many children. Dot markers help practice this skill.
Since most dot marker sets don’t come with a white dot marker, you can be creative when dotting Santa’s beard. You can also just use this printable as a dot marker activity.
